Mothers are not alone in their to get their child help.

Mothers of children with autism experience much higher levels of psychological and parenting related distress than moms of children without the disorder. Brain scans have shown that in many cases the chronic stress mothers feel matched those of soldiers returning from war who had been diagnosed with PTSD. It is also very common for parents to feel isolated. Many times parents lack support, and feel as if they’re on their own. Society is quick to judge parental skills, and because autistic children look like any other child, people may not think of the possibility of autism.

Meet Max, He is a very active 5 year old boy. He loves to run and play, and hang out with his friends. They recently added a baby sister to the family, and Max simply adores her. He is very kind and gentle with her, and you can tell she loves him. While mom says he is just slightly on the spectrum, she knows that getting him the right treatments and diagnosis is important. I hope the best for this family and finding peace in their decisions, as I know the mental stress that is on every mom to get their child the best help they can.
