31 Days of Breastfeeding Journeys | Day 26 | World Breastfeeding Week 2016
"I was inspired by a close friend Cate Henderson to breastfeed and when I became a mom it was my top priorty to accomplish breastfeeding. My journey with Olivia (my first born) was rough I fought with a low supply, stress of losing my mother-in-law, and becoming pregnant with Lucas (my second born) but we made it to a year before she self weaned. Then I knew once Lucas was born I wanted to go beyond a year. When i had Lucas things seemed great and I loved it. Once again I battled a low supply issue and was once again stressed with the loss of my papaw. I didn't think I would ever be able to nurse again because I was scared to have another baby, because I lost someone very close to me right before I gave birth not once but TWICE!!!
Lucas and I tried our best to have a good breastfeeding relationship but only made it to 2 very short months!! 7 months later I found out I was pregnant again with baby #3. Granted I wanted to nurse I had doubts. I ended up having a subchronic hemorrhage at the beginning of the pregnancy, then I ended up having to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. I wasn't gaining any weight and my doctor made me high risk. After all that I for sure thought I wouldn't be able to nurse at all this time around.
Then 1 Week before I had our precious new baby girl I turned to Daniel (my husband) and asked him "So what are we doing? Am I going to nurse or formula feed?" Without any hesitation he responded with "you're gonna breastfeed" so that's what I choose to do. When Isabel was born we were off to a great start.
Now 1 month later we are still going strong and I couldn't ask for any better experience this far. I encourage every mom out there to breastfeed at least once. Whether your baby is in the NICU, adopted, or whatever there is still hope!!! I can honestly say I'm proud of myself and my breastfeeding journey with all three of my babies, even if it lasted a year, two months, or just started I am beyond proud!!!
Thanks for giving me the option to get photographed with my baby ♡♡" ~Jesika
