31 Days of Breastfeeding Journeys | Day 28 | World Breastfeeding Week 2016
"My breastfeeding journey started in April 2007 with my first son. He was born 4 weeks early via c section and the only thing I knew was I learned to breastfeed. I really did not know much about breastfeeding and thought it would be easy and come naturally. My son wanted to nurse all the time and I did not think that was normal. I was told to get him on a schedule. I really had no idea what I was doing. We pushed through and breastfed for about 10-11 months and then stopped. During this time I felt like I was not producing enough to feed him and so we used formula also. I remember not being comfortable feeding him in public either so I felt as though I could not go anywhere.

In January 2012 my 2nd son was born and he came into the world as a VBAC baby! I was in a different hospital and had supportive lactation consultants who helped me start a wonderful breastfeeding journey. He had a tongue that was tied, and we got it corrected. While working with the LC’s I learned that it was normal for babies to want to nurse all the time. My 2nd son was breastfed for 2 years and 5 months. It was a much different experience than my first and one that I will always treasure.

My 3rd son was born in October 2014, he was also a VBAC. He was my first son I was able to place on my chest right away and start breastfeeding. We did struggle a little with a tongue and lip tie. But once it was corrected he has not had any issues with breastfeeding. We are still going strong at 21 months!

I have enjoyed my breastfeeding journey and my hope is that my 3 sons will encourage and support their wives' breastfeeding journeys!" ~Shoshanna
