31 Days of Breastfeeding Journeys | Day 2 | World Breastfeeding Week 2016
"Shortly after leaving my abusive marriage of ten years, I found out I was pregnant with my fourth little blessing, and first son, from my husband. Over the next months I was afraid and unsure of what would happen to my relationship with my youngest who was still nursing. On top of stress from a divorce, and trials from pressing charges for a domestic assault, I experienced some pain from nursing during pregnancy, but we kept pushing through, because I knew that the comfort her and I both felt together was worth it.

In the photo, I am nursing my youngest daughter, Fio, who is 21 months old, while 36 weeks pregnant. She always touches my ear for comfort. We are both preparing to tandem nurse for the first time when her baby brother gets here. I am so grateful for the bond breastfeeding has allowed me to share with my children, through so many scary and uncertain times. I look forward to our new future together; a future of peace and safety, with all the comforts of the secret love that only a mother and her child can share. ♡
