31 Days of Breastfeeding Journeys | Day 17 | World Breastfeeding Week 2016
"My husband and I welcomed a 8lb 5oz baby girl (Laura) on Sept 14, 2015. During pregnancy so many people asked me are you going to breastfeed- I always replied with, I am going to try!
After delivering via C Section the nurse came in and said we want to get her to feed. I felt so weak and didnt think I could even hold her. With the amazing lactation consultants and my husband. She latched on immediately, unfortunately I was battling a inverted nipple. The lactation consultant brought in a nipple shield, that became our lifeline for the next 3 months!
Laura had gotten complacent and I was having to use it on both sides, one day I said this is it! We started trying ever feed for a few weeks and finally she latched on. 9 months later, I am so thankful I tried." ~Melinda
